AI VS WOMEN

More Women Will Be Replaced By AI

With the rise in AI and technology advancements, it is believed that traditionally held jobs held by women will be the first replaced by AI. In this newsletter we are looking into why?

AI MORE LIKELY TO REPLACE JOBS HELD BY WOMEN

"Many employees fear that automation will soon replace them. A recent report suggests that women may have the most reason to be concerned. The study, conducted by New York City-based Revelio Labs and published by Bloomberg in May, examined jobs most likely to be replaced by AI based on a report by the National Bureau of Economic Research.

Filtering the results based on gender indicated that jobs predominantly held by women are most at risk of being replaced by AI. These positions include bill and account collectors, payroll and timekeeping clerks, executive secretaries, word processors and typists, and accounting specialists." Learn more

WOMEN ARE MORE VULNERABLE THAN MEN

"Anyone else think this year really feels like the one where the rolling snowball of tech advances has picked up speed and started hurling itself at our faces, at 100mph? After many mutterings about the metaverse, artificial intelligence (and how it can be misused to sexually degrade women), blockchain and crypto, AI is now well and truly amongst us (hello, ChatGPT). And another big concern many are having right now? That AI could take over their jobs.

Now, adding petrol to that simmering ember of worry is a new study that confirms AI has the potential to impact virtually every job on the planet – for better or worse (and by worse we mean: replacing humans). And it turns out there's a gender divide too, as it's predicted that 80% of women are currently in a job role that could be disrupted by AI, compared to 60% of men. According to the University of North Carolina's Kenan-Flagler Business School, who carried out the research, this stark difference is especially concerning given that the number of men in full-time work outweighs the number of women in the US, too (as per the Census Bureau), and one American recruitment firm said almost 4,000 jobs were lost in May alone this year via Fortune." AI COULD ELIMINATE 300 MILLION JOBS IN THE NEXT DECADE

"The latest generative AI products — think ChatGPT, Bing Chat and Bard — could replace the equivalent of 300 million full-time jobs over the next decade, according to a new report by Goldman Sachs.

And even though men outnumber women in the workforce, it is the women whose jobs are at far greater risk of being lost to automation. The reason is fairly straightforward: the jobs at higher risk of elimination are knowledge worker positions, as generative AI will have much less impact on jobs that require physical labor.

The release of generative artificial intelligence products allows anyone to use prompts to generate texts, images, music or video for business or personal use. They have become a game-changer for many industries, offering new ways to automate tasks, increase productivity and improve quality. But that also means the people who normally do those jobs could see their roles eliminated." Learn more
